Ghost Games was founded in 2011 as EA Gothenburg . In November 2012 it was renamed Ghost Games .The studio Criterion Games was actually supposed to take over the entire Need for Speed series . However, these rights were handed over to Ghost Games during the development of Need for Speed Rivals after many members of Criterion Games moved to Ghost Games. Between Rivals and the 2015 reboot, EA and Ghost Games interrupted the annual release cycle of the racing game series to give themselves more time for development.
